The Shreveport Mudbug’s hockey team is known for having their own official beer, Penalty Bock.
The beer was created, brewed and distributed by the Shreveport microbrewery, Red River Brewing Company. However, that is no longer the case due to some licensing changes by Red River Brewing. Their new license classification does not allow them to distribute beer outside of its taproom. Instead of the beer simply going away, they made a deal with Flying Tiger Brewery out of Monroe.
Flying Tiger Brewery purchased the recipe and brand from Red River Brewing. The beer is now brewed, labeled, and distributed under Flying Tiger. Although the beer will be made following the same recipe, there is a “warning” that the beer will likely have a different taste. Brewing a beer in a different facility and even simply with different water can cause a change in taste.
Congratulations to Flying Tiger Brewery for expanding its business into Shreveport and into the Mudbugs arena.
